Pomegranate is an important crop in India. It is called as Wonder Fruit because of its excellent health benefits. Pomegranate fruit is popular because of refreshing winey flavor of its juicy seeds known as arils. It is a round berry and has a thick skin on the outside and a lot of inner seeds surrounded by a juicy pulp. Its colour ranges from dark red to yellowish green. Its taste is bittersweet. The pomegranate is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub in the family Lythraceae, subfamily Punicoideae, that grows between 5 and 10 m tall. The fruit is typically in season in the Northern Hemisphere from September to February, and in the Southern Hemisphere from March to May.
